Autumn, Year 754 of the New Age
Glenmore, The Glenwood, Crocus Glade
Featuring Princess Glenda, mentioning NPC lord Donder

Donder gave a bellow before chasing after a cluster of leaves, racing around his mother’s glade. Fiery hues blossomed in the trees, heralding the Rut. Glenda watched her son proudly from the protection of her wisteria. He was growing into a strapping young colt, dark pelted and muscular like his father, but with Glenda’s eyes and sleek coat. Even her newest hoofmaiden, Dedorna, couldn’t stop praising her son’s handsome appearance.

Glenda was first convinced motherhood would be a task, something to toil at and worry with, but her son was surprisingly mindful of her. He obviously adored her, and was fascinated by everything she did. She never knew being a mother could be so rewarding.

But Glenda gave a start when she heard her son’s bellow rise into a pained cry, and she sprang to her dainty hooves.

“Donder?” She demanded, voice sharp with alarm as she sped to his side. Dedorna followed her every hoof-step, inspecting her son on one end while Glenda went for another.

The dark colt gazed up at the princess with round, pitiful eyes, whimpering with pain.

“What happened darling? Show mother what hurts.”

Donder produced his left knee, skinned and bleeding, for her inspection. Glenda nearly recoiled at the sight, thoroughly disgusted by the dirty wound and even more indignant that her son should be hurt. She made up her mind that later she would summon a few of the wayward hoofmaidens and have them pick her clearing clean of sharp rocks on the surface.

“Now, now, my sweet,” The dunalino murmured as she sat in front of her trembling son, “It’s just a silly old cut. You’re alright. I’ll have you fixed up in a jiffy.”

The lordling nodded tearfully, allowing her to position his knee without complaint.

Glenda had Dedorna fetch her a few onion stalks and small comb of honey. The tiny doe cleaned her son’s wounds with the herb stalks before she settled her nose close to his knee. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, reaching for her inner light. She felt her mind open like a gate, and allow the magic to trickle out slowly. Glenda willed it to spread into the wound, soothing the pain and bringing the cut together until…

“Beautiful work as always, Milady,” Dedorna murmured quietly to the side of her.

“Mother,” Donder gasped, brown eyes wide with surprise, “How…?”

Glenda smiled as both fawnlings regarded her in awe, both sets of eyes flicking back and forth in disbelief between her and the healed knee.

“I’m a Princess Doe, silly boy. My magic is that of healing. Nevermind that I’m your mother, and would never let anything harm you.”

Glenda stood, please with her work and restoration of Donder’s comfort. The lordling stood as well, snorting when the hoofmaiden began brushing the dirt off of his coat with her tail.

“Come now, Darling. I think this is a good stopping place until the morning, no?”

The colt nodded obediently, trotting happily after her as Dedorna brought up the rear.
